Dr Kourkouta is a GDC registered Specialist in Periodontics, Prosthodontics, Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics, and a Member and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. She completed her Master of Medical Science in Restorative Dentistry (subspecialty Periodontology) at the University of Sheffield, where her thesis was on periodontal response to porcelain veneers. She subsequently trained extensively in a combination of University and National Health Service positions at General and Dental Hospitals throughout the UK in the fields of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Restorative Dentistry, culminating in Higher Specialist Training at Consultant level at the Eastman Dental Hospital & Institute, London (2000–2006).

She received the George Cross Fellowship Award through the British Society of Periodontology for her elective study on “Implant therapy in compromised sites” at the University of Southern California and University of California in Los Angeles, USA (2006). She completed successfully the one-year ITI research scholarship programme, awarded through the International Team for Implantology (based in Switzerland), at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA (2006–2007), where she investigated the dimensions of soft and hard tissues in relation to the presence of papillae between implants in the aesthetic zone and patient satisfaction.

She published a number of scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals, and presented her work in the UK and internationally. She has been in specialist practice since 2008 and joined Swiss Smile Dental Clinic in 2009, subsequently continuing at Curaden Clinic. She won the “Highly commended” award in the category Best Periodontic Practice at the Private Dentistry Awards 2012. She is a member of the British Society of Periodontology, British Dental Association, and American Academy of Osseointegration. She also holds the Dental Diploma in Homoeopathy. Her expertise is in advanced periodontal therapy as well as individualized restorative treatment aiming to achieve function and aesthetics through professional excellence.
